What We Do
Our Mission
The mission of the Futures program is to provide a pathway to higher education for aspiring students who lack the necessary resources.
Meet Adam H
“I graduated UNH in 2018 with a double major in biomedical science and neuroscience. In college, I was on the premed track so I became and EMT and eventually a Paramedic.
During my gap year, I worked at Northeast Dermatology as a Medical Assistant. I started UConn School of Medicine in the fall of 2019 and currently am getting my butt kicked by medical school.
Futures was like my second “advisor” in college. I was able to come to Phyllis and Amy with my problems and we would work together and figure out solutions that I would not have been able to think of alone. I could definitely attest that Futures was one of the reasons why I went to college and am where I am today. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities Futures has given me and I look forward to giving back in the future (pun intended). ”
We know that the college process can be daunting, as is paying for it. Futures was set up to help students prepare for college, apply for college and, finally, attend college. While in high school, students:
participate in monthly group meetings.
meet individually to review academic progress and keep on track.
volunteer in the community.
access a summer rising senior prep program to work on college applications.
participate in SAT prep sessions prior to the spring junior test.
receive assistance reviewing financial aid packages to help make the best college decision for the student.
discuss the ins and outs of college, unexpected costs students may incur, student loan questions.
Futures also assists with college payment. We provide financial assistance after students have accessed scholarships, student loans, grants, and estimated family contribution. Some students receive gift cards towards books if a student is not eligible for an award.
